As part of his $1 billion commitment to the Department of Human Services, Governor Brian P. Kemp recently announced that cash assistance of up to $350 will be provided to active Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids®, SNAP, and/or TANF enrollees. If a Georgian is enrolled in more than one of these programs, only one payment will be made.
SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, and/or Medicaid users have received their initial Cash Assistance Program cards which can be activated at cashassistance.gateway.ga.gov activate card.

To activate your Cash Assistance Mastercard card:
– Click the Select to Redeem button within your email
– Log in to the Cash Assistance website using the Client ID and DOB associated to the name on the email
As you are logged in to your dashboard look for the Set PIN button
– Set PIN
– Your card is now activated and ready to use

- Enter your date of birth
- Click the blue Log In button
- Read and accept terms & conditions
- Read and accept privacy policy

What is the Cash Assistance Program Mastercard® Prepaid Card (Virtual Card)?
The Cash Assistance Program Mastercard® Prepaid Card “Virtual Card” can be used for online, mail, and phone orders in the U.S. By adding the Virtual Card to your digital wallet, you can use it for payments in the U.S. by merchants, restaurants, service providers, and health care providers that accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Mastercard. A one-time $350 load value is associated with the Virtual Card, which is not reloadable. Access to cash is not permitted.
What is a Cash Assistance Program Mastercard® Prepaid Card (Plastic Card)?
Mastercard debit cards are accepted everywhere in the United States. There is a one-time loading value of $350 on the Card, and it is non-reloadable. There is no cash access available. Users can review their transactions at cashassistance.gateway.ga.gov activate card.

When will I receive the Cash Assistance Program Mastercard® Prepaid Card?
Cash assistance payments are slated to go out to eligible Georgians who have “email” as their contact preference beginning the week of September 19, 2022, and eligible Georgians who have “email and U.S. mail” as their contact preference beginning the week of September 26, 2022. Eligible Georgians with a “U.S. mail” contact preference will receive their payment at a later date.
What information is needed to activate The Cash Assistance Program?
MasterCard® Prepaid Card (Card)? You will need your Client ID and other personal information to activate the Card. Follow the steps provided in your email or Card package delivered to you. You can find the Client ID in the Georgia Gateway portal. See below steps to retrieve your Client ID.
- Go to cashassistance.gateway.ga.gov activate card Gateway and create an account or sign into your account
- Link your case using DOB and client ID
- On the “My Benefit Summary” screen, the One-Time Cash Assistance table will be displayed, which includes the client IDs
How does The Cash Assistance Program Mastercard® Prepaid Card (Virtual Card) work?
In the same way as using a Mastercard debit card, you can use the Virtual Card to make purchases online, by mail and by phone. Your Virtual Card can be loaded into a digital wallet if you want to use it for in-store purchases, doctor’s appointments, etc. It allows you to pay anywhere Mastercard is accepted, not just online.
What information is needed when using The Cash Assistance Program?
MasterCard® Prepaid Card (Virtual Card)? For online, mail order, or phone purchases you will need the Card Number, Expiration Date, and CVC2 Code, some businesses may also request your name and address.
The address used should be the same as your mailing address at which you receive the Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids®, SNAP, or TANF correspondences. You can find the address on Georgia Gateway. Please navigate to the “Benefits Summary” page after logging in.
You will be navigated to the program details page when you click on the link “Click Here to View the Details” under the “My Benefit” section. Click on the “Click Here for More Information” link to view the mailing and residential address(es) associated with your account.
Where can The Cash Assistance Program Mastercard® Prepaid Card (Virtual Card) be used?
The Card can be used for online, mail, and phone orders like a Mastercard debit card. It can be loaded into a wallet app on your device to be used in-store, at the doctor’s office, etc.
In their wallet apps, Apple, Google, and Samsung all explain how to load a Virtual Card. You can also add this to third-party wallets and retailer wallets just like any other plastic card.
Is there anything I can buy with this money? Mastercard debit cards are accepted everywhere in the U.S., so you can use the Card for food, clothing, prescriptions, bills, and more. The Cardholder Agreement contains additional information about using the Card.
